Yemen: The Supreme Committee for Investigating the Al-Arqoub Incident Approves the Suspension of "Saqr Al-Hijaz" Company

The Supreme Committee tasked with investigating the burning of the public transport bus in the Al-Arqoub area of Abyan Governorate announced the suspension of the "Saqr Al-Hijaz" transport company's activity after discovering a number of technical and operational shortcomings during the investigation. The committee is scheduled to submit a comprehensive report to the Prime Minister within the next two days, including the results of the investigation and all documents and reports issued by the competent authorities in land transport, security, and traffic, in addition to recommendations and measures to be taken to avoid the recurrence of such incidents in the future. The committee concluded its work today, chaired by the Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdulsalam Humaid, and with the membership of the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh, the Governor of Abyan, Abu Bakr Hussein, the Deputy Minister of Public Works and Roads, Dr. Muhammad Thabet, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Road and Bridge Maintenance Fund, Engineer Hussein Awad. During its meetings, the committee reviewed the reports and documents submitted by the relevant land transport authorities, the Road Maintenance Fund, security, and health, and listened to the testimonies of the injured and a number of survivors, which helped to draw a complete picture of the circumstances surrounding the trip from its departure from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia until the tragic accident in the Al-Arqoub area of Abyan Governorate.
