The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, concluded on Wednesday a regional tour that included the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, focusing on supporting the United Nations' efforts to achieve lasting peace and comprehensive stability in Yemen. In Riyadh, Grundberg met with Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Foreign Minister Shayea Al-Zindani, where he discussed with them the latest political developments, the national dialogue track, and the UN mediation efforts. He also held meetings with the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al Jaber, the ambassadors of the five permanent members of the Security Council, and a number of international representatives, to coordinate joint support for mediation. In Abu Dhabi, the UN envoy met with Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the State, Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Lana Nusseibeh, where they discussed ways to enhance regional consensus to support the stability of Yemen and the continuation of constructive political dialogue. During all his meetings, Grundberg reiterated the United Nations' call for the immediate and unconditional release of the organization's employees detained by the Houthis, warning that the continued detention obstructs the delivery of humanitarian aid and undermines the trust necessary for the success of the UN mediation efforts.
