The Public Prosecution Office affiliated with the Houthi group demanded, yesterday, Tuesday, the execution of 21 defendants before the Specialized Criminal Court in the capital secretariat, accusing them of belonging to nine espionage cells linked to an intelligence network working with foreign intelligence agencies, including American, Israeli, and Saudi. The news agency affiliated with the group explained that the prosecution presented the defendants' confessions and seizures, including secret communication devices, money, gold bars, and documents allegedly proving correspondence with foreign and Saudi officers regarding military objectives. For its part, the defense team for the accused requested access to the case files in preparation for the upcoming sessions. The prosecution said that the actions attributed to the defendants during the years 2024 and 2025 led to civilian casualties, the destruction of infrastructure, and damage to the political, economic, and military interests of the Republic. For their part, local and international human rights organizations condemned the escalation of political trials in Houthi-controlled areas, warning that the procedures of the Specialized Criminal Courts lack transparency and independence, and contradict international standards for fair trials, especially in light of restrictions on the defense and security pressures on the accused and their families.
