Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The "Southern Women for Peace" group affirmed in a statement issued on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, which falls on September 21 of each year, that peace is not a luxury or a secondary option, but a fundamental right and an urgent necessity, especially in societies exhausted by conflicts and leaving deep wounds in the lives of civilians. The statement stressed that the effects of wars, such as displacement, loss, and social division, drive the group to continue raising its voice for the achievement of a just and comprehensive peace that puts an end to the suffering of the innocent and restores hope for a more secure and just future. The group expressed its commitment to working with partners and actors locally and internationally to promote a culture of peace and spread the values of dialogue and coexistence, stressing the importance of the role of women and youth as a pivotal pillar in making change and building the future. "Southern Women for Peace" called on individuals and institutions inside and outside Yemen to make peace a fateful choice and not just celebratory slogans, pointing out that peace is the only way to build a future based on justice, preserving human dignity, and extricating the country from its crises. The statement concluded by affirming: "Together to end wars and make sustainable peace... Peace is a right, war is a tragedy, and we will have no future except with peace."
