Arab Sea - Follow-ups: The "Lawyers Against Corruption" network launched the "Professor Iftihan Al-Mashhari" campaign today, Sunday, to combat corruption in Taiz Governorate, pledging to continue exposing those involved in the assassination of the Director of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund. The head of the network, Dr. Osama Al-Asbahi, affirmed that "her blood will remain a witness to the Yemenis' battle against corruption and the corrupt." The network added that corruption is the main driver behind the assassination crime, reviewing the most prominent achievements of the martyr that posed a major threat to corruption networks, most notably: Combating financial corruption: Al-Mashhari rejected the previous directives that allocated 50% of the fund's revenues to the governor, a number of agents, and military leaders, and insisted on stopping the illegal seizure of public funds. Confronting armed influence: The martyr resisted the blackmail of militants who demanded huge sums of money in exchange for "protecting" the fund's headquarters, and also refused to allow their families to reside there. This confrontation led to her being threatened with death and the closure of the headquarters, threats that were later carried out by assassinating her, despite her legal demands to hold them accountable, in light of the collusion of government agencies. The network confirms that these militants still control ten government headquarters and run a government power station for personal gain, in addition to seizing government land without any accountability. Fairness for marginalized workers: Al-Mashhari refused to exploit marginalized workers and worked to officially employ hundreds of them to guarantee their rights, in a move that contradicted the policies of previous administrations.
