Aden.. People sit in the street hoping for the electricity to return.
Arabian Sea - Exclusive
Special/Aden In a now familiar scene, citizens in Aden's neighborhoods have taken to the streets and alleys, fleeing the heat of their homes, which have turned into ovens due to frequent power outages. Adults and children sit on sidewalks and under walls in search of a breeze, at a time when daily blackout hours have exceeded 13 hours in some areas. The picture taken from one of Aden's neighborhoods shows a group of children sitting on the ground, next to an elderly man who has taken blocks of stone as a seat, waiting for the electricity to return. Behind them are modest houses and neighborhoods complaining of neglect and accumulated waste. With no immediate solutions in sight, the suffering of residents is escalating as they face a scorching summer without electricity, amid official silence and a complete lack of accountability. The hopes of the people remain pinned on repeated promises that have not yet been translated into reality.
