Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The European Union has renewed its commitment to keep the humanitarian crisis in Yemen at the top of its political agenda, stressing its continued efforts to mobilize international efforts to address its catastrophic repercussions. European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, said in a tweet on the X platform on Friday that the European Union will continue to push for discussion of the humanitarian situation in Yemen during the United Nations General Assembly meetings scheduled to be held next week in New York, stressing that this issue will remain a priority in continental and international forums. Lahbib expressed her appreciation to international partners and humanitarian workers for their role in keeping the suffering of the Yemeni people present on the international scene, saying: "We are grateful to them for their efforts in reminding the world of the magnitude of the tragedy and ensuring continued support," stressing that joint action is the way to meet the needs of affected Yemeni families. The European official revealed that the European Union recently completed a humanitarian relief air bridge to Yemen, which was launched last July, including 30 flights carrying more than 432 tons of medicines, medical equipment and food. She explained that these flights represented a "real lifeline" that contributed to reducing the spread of cholera and providing vital supplies to thousands of people in need.
