Arab Sea_Follow-ups: The "Civil Defense" in Gaza reported yesterday (Friday) that 450,000 Palestinians have been displaced from Gaza City to the southern part of the Strip since the end of August. The Director of Medical Supply in the "Civil Defense," Muhammad al-Mughir, told "Agence France-Presse" that "the number of citizens who have been displaced from Gaza to the south has reached 450,000 people since the start of the military operation on Gaza City last August." Earlier, the Israeli army, which is intensifying its calls to evacuate Gaza City, told the French agency that it estimates the number of Palestinians who have been displaced from it since the end of August at "about 480,000." An Israeli army spokesman said in a statement to the agency in response to a question about the number of people who have fled the city since the end of August, that "the estimates are about 480,000." In the same month, UN estimates indicated that the number of people in the city was about one million. Many Gazans told the French agency that they are facing difficulties in leaving Gaza City, which has been subjected to heavy Israeli strikes since the beginning of the recent military operation. The main access route to the south is crowded with those seeking to head to the southern part of the Strip, but the time it takes and the cost are a major obstacle for them. The Israeli army confirmed that residents leaving Gaza City will find food, tents, and medicine in an area it describes as "humanitarian" in Al-Mawasi. Since the beginning of the war, the Israeli army has launched many air strikes on areas it has declared "humanitarian" and "safe" for residents, noting that it is targeting "Hamas" fighters hiding among civilians.
