Unprecedented tension between Egypt and Israel on the border Cairo – Bahr Al Arab – Follow-ups The Egyptian-Israeli border is witnessing unprecedented tension after Tel Aviv claimed that about one hundred drones infiltrated its territory from Sinai last month, some of which - according to its claims - were equipped with weapons, which sparked widespread controversy about the accuracy of these claims and their political goals. The Israeli army said that it "is aware of the size of the threat and is working to improve its operational response," but military experts expressed skepticism about the validity of this account, questioning how Israel was unable to detect these alleged drones, at a time when it accurately monitors Houthi aircraft coming from thousands of kilometers away. In contrast, Israeli reports spoke of significant Egyptian military reinforcements in northern Sinai, including the deployment of long-range Chinese air defense systems, in addition to a military force of about 42,000 soldiers, which - according to these reports - exceeds what is permitted by the peace treaty signed between Cairo and Tel Aviv. Analysts believe that the Egyptian moves reflect a defensive strategy to protect national security, especially in light of the current regional tensions, stressing that Cairo is committed to peace but at the same time is ready to respond to any potential threat. While Israel insists on talking about "drone threats from Sinai," experts believe that these statements may be an attempt to justify upcoming Israeli military moves or to exert political pressure on Cairo in thorny regional issues.
