Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, held telephone calls today, Thursday, with the Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, and a number of local, security, and military leaders in the governorate. The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed on the general situation in Taiz Governorate, and the terrorist threats that destabilize security, stability, and public tranquility, the latest of which was the heinous assassination crime that targeted the Director of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund in the governorate, Iftihan Al-Mashhari. President Al-Alimi, on behalf of himself, the members of the Council, and the government, expressed his deep sorrow and sincere condolences to the family of the martyr, asking God Almighty to bestow upon the deceased, who was known for her competence and dedication, with vast mercy and forgiveness, and to grant her family and relatives patience and solace. The Chairman of the Leadership Council directed the security and military agencies and law enforcement authorities to take all urgent measures to pursue the criminal elements and bring them to a swift trial to receive their deterrent punishment, while continuing to implement security plans to combat terrorism in all its forms. Al-Alimi praised the role of the people of Taiz Governorate and their honorable stances alongside the armed forces, security, and popular resistance in confronting the Houthi group and the criminal organizations allied with it, stressing the leadership's and the Yemeni people's pride in the great sacrifices made by the men of the armed forces and security to preserve the security of the country, protect its gains, and deter all threats. In the same context, the Security Committee in Taiz Governorate approved, on Thursday, strict measures to track down the perpetrators of the assassination of Al-Mashhari, stressing that it is about to launch a joint security campaign to track down the accused, headed by a man named Muhammad Sadiq, nicknamed "Al-Bashq," after their identities were determined. It also stressed the leaders of the military battalions in the north and east of the city to fully cooperate with the campaign, and directed the circulation of the pictures of the wanted persons to all security points and outlets, announcing that it remains in a state of permanent session until the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice. In addition, employees and workers of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund in Taiz announced a comprehensive strike and suspension of work in protest against the assassination of the Director of the Fund, stressing in a statement that they will not resume their work until the perpetrators of the crime are arrested, the circumstances are revealed, and a swift trial is guaranteed for those involved. The workers pointed out that the assassination of Al-Mashhari represents "a great loss for Taiz and for the General Corporation for Cleaning and Improvement," holding the local authorities and security agencies fully responsible for protecting employees and providing a safe environment for the Fund's activity to continue. Al-Mashhari was killed by unknown gunmen while passing through Sinan roundabout in the center of Taiz city, in a crime that shook local circles and sparked a widespread wave of anger.
