Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The National Women's Committee strongly condemned the "heinous" crime committed this Thursday morning, the assassination of Professor Iftihan Al-Mashhari, the Executive Director of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund in Taiz Governorate. In an official statement, the committee said that this heinous crime, carried out by unknown gunmen in broad daylight, is not only an attack on a prominent public figure, but also a "flagrant violation of all human and moral norms and values." The statement added that this incident is a new episode in the series of "cowardly targeting" of civil cadres and female competencies who work to serve society despite all circumstances and challenges. The committee described the deceased as "a model of a leading woman who devoted her life to serving the city of Taiz, and made great efforts, defying security and economic difficulties," stressing that her departure represents "a great loss for the city and the entire country." The committee called on the security authorities in Taiz Governorate to assume their full responsibilities, and to take immediate action to uncover the circumstances of this crime, arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice to receive their deterrent punishment. It also called for decisive measures to be taken to provide the necessary protection for all civil competencies, and to reduce the phenomenon of assassinations that threaten the security and stability of the governorate.
