Arab Sea_Follow-ups: The Hebrew newspaper "Maariv" reported, citing informed sources on Thursday, that the commander of the military wing of Hamas, the commander of the Gaza City Brigade, Ezz El-Din al-Haddad, has prepared a defensive system and a group of fighters in preparation for fighting against Israeli forces in the city. The same sources suggested that al-Haddad, nicknamed "the Ghost of al-Qassam," may tend to avoid direct military confrontation during the Israeli army's attempts to occupy Gaza City. The Hebrew newspaper expected that the Israeli army would intensify its aerial and artillery bombardment and increase the pace of attacks on Gaza City in order to push residents to evacuate the city, which may facilitate the Israeli army's mission to eliminate al-Haddad in order to pressure his colleagues from the movement's leaders who survived an Israeli assassination attempt in Doha days ago, and push them to reach a ceasefire agreement. The Israeli army is preparing to continue operations in Gaza according to a timetable linked to the progress of the evacuation of residents. As part of this, Salah al-Din Road in the city was opened for 48 hours to facilitate the movement of residents towards the al-Mawasi area. Hamas seeks to maintain its existing military capabilities in Gaza City, and part of its strategy is to try to prevent residents from leaving the city, realizing that this may hinder the operations of the Israeli army, according to the Hebrew newspaper. Israeli estimates indicate that the movement has transferred a number of hostages to Gaza to use them as human shields, which requires the Israeli army to exercise caution and conduct precise military operations under strict intelligence supervision that includes the General Security Service (Shin Bet) and military intelligence. On Wednesday evening, the Israeli army continued to deepen its advance in the northern Gaza City area, on the second day of announcing the expansion of its operation towards a full invasion of Gaza City. A correspondent in the sector reported that the Israeli army had reached the al-Saftawi neighborhood and al-Jalaa Street from the northern side, which is the main street that connects the south of Gaza City with its north. The Israeli army also advanced towards the al-Karama neighborhood to the north of Gaza City, starting from the areas where the Israeli army vehicles are stationed in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. The Israeli army announced last Tuesday the start of a military operation in Gaza City, noting that 40% of the city's residents had left it. A spokesman for the Israeli army said: "The army has begun destroying Hamas' infrastructure in Gaza City," considering the city a "dangerous combat zone."
