Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: Yemenia Airways launched its first commercial flights to Atak International Airport in Shabwa Governorate today, Sunday, in a move described as a new beginning for maritime and commercial activity in the governorate. The Governor of Shabwa, Awad Ibn al-Wazir, praised the efforts that contributed to the reopening of the airport, stressing that this step will bring about a qualitative leap in the fields of trade and investment and serve the people of the governorate and neighboring governorates. He also directed the speedy completion of some urgent repairs to ensure the safety of air navigation. For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Engineer Tariq Ali, congratulated the people of Shabwa on the reopening of the airport, praising the role of the local authority in rehabilitating its infrastructure. He explained that "transit" flights will be approved from Atak Airport to several Arab and international destinations. For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemenia Airways, Captain Nasser Mahmoud, expressed his happiness at adding a new air station to the Yemenia network, stressing that this achievement was achieved thanks to the integration of the efforts of all concerned parties.
