Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate condemned today the Israeli airstrikes that targeted the headquarters of the 26 September newspaper in the capital, Sana'a, on Wednesday evening, describing them as a "war crime and a flagrant violation of all international laws and conventions." The syndicate said in a statement that the bombing resulted in a number of martyrs and wounded among the newspaper's employees, including members of the syndicate, while others are still missing under the rubble of the destroyed building. According to the initial toll reported by the syndicate, the following were martyred: Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh (member of the syndicate), Abbas Al-Dailami, Youssef Shams Al-Din, Abdullah Mahdi Al-Bahri, Muhammad Al-Umaisi, journalist Abdullah Al-Harazi, Murad Halboub Al-Faqih, Ali Naji Saeed Al-Shara'i, journalist Ali Muhammad Al-Aqil, and journalist Jamal Al-Aadhi, in addition to a number of injured, including journalist Mansour Al-Ansi (member of the syndicate). The syndicate affirmed that targeting the media headquarters and neighboring residential areas, which also claimed the lives of dozens of civilians and caused widespread destruction, represents a dangerous escalation against the press and freedom of expression. The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate called on all international organizations concerned with freedom of the press to condemn the crime and to exert pressure to protect media institutions and ensure a safe environment for the work of journalists in Yemen. It also offered its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the journalistic community, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
