Arab Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The Yemeni government welcomed the U.S. Treasury Department's announcement of the largest sanctions package to date on the Iranian-backed Houthi group, which included 32 individuals, entities, and four ships linked to smuggling and financing networks. Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Muammar Al-Eryani affirmed that this step reflects the seriousness of the U.S. administration in confronting the Houthi threat to regional and international security and represents an extension of cooperation with the Yemeni government in combating terrorism and drying up its resources. He explained that the sanctions targeted front companies and huge money laundering networks that the Houthis had turned into a major source of funding for the purchase of ballistic missiles and drones, warning against the group's continued looting of state resources and control of the commercial sector to finance its war. The government renewed its call to the international community, led by the European Union and the United Kingdom, to take similar steps by classifying the Houthis as a global terrorist organization and pursuing their financial networks, in support of the legitimacy's efforts to end the coup and restore the state.
