Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The General Authority for Antiquities and Museums, controlled by the Houthi group in Sana'a, said that Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Yemeni capital on Wednesday hit the National Museum located in the historical Dar Al-Sa'ada in Al-Tahrir district, causing serious damage to the historical building and endangering thousands of rare artifacts. The Authority confirmed that the museum, which opened in the mid-twentieth century, is one of the most prominent symbols of the Yemeni national identity and contains collections that represent part of the common human heritage. The National Museum houses thousands of pieces documenting the ancient civilizations of Yemen and its extended history, including rare statues, inscriptions, and manuscripts, and the Authority fears that the damage will lead to the loss or destruction of parts of this cultural heritage.
