Yemen: Inauguration of the Orthopedic Operating Room at Al-Jumhouria Hospital in Aden with Turkish Support

Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The Secretary-General of the Local Council in Aden Governorate, Badr Muawan, inaugurated today, Sunday, the orthopedic surgery operating room at the Model Republican General Hospital Authority, equipped with support from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). Muawan, accompanied by the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Salem Al-Shabahi and Dr. Shawqi Al-Sharjabi, inspected the equipment of the room, which included modern surgical devices and tools, including a fluid suction device and an operating bed, in addition to an arthroscope that is being put into service for the first time in the hospital. The head of the authority, Dr. Muhammad Al-Saqqaf, affirmed that the opening of the room represents a qualitative leap in orthopedic surgery services, expressing his thanks to the TIKA agency, and stressing the need for more support to complete the equipping of the rest of the operating rooms. For his part, the Secretary-General of the Local Council praised the efforts of the hospital administration, as it is the referral hospital in Aden and neighboring governorates, appreciating the Turkish support in enhancing its medical services. Dr. Shawqi Al-Sharjabi pointed out that the Ministry of Health is currently working on a project to rehabilitate and develop the hospital in coordination with its administration, while the Director of the Health Office in Aden, Dr. Ahmed Al-Bishi, explained that the project will alleviate the suffering of citizens and reduce their need to travel abroad for treatment. As for the Director of the TIKA Agency in Yemen, Yahya Aju, he affirmed that this project comes within a series of humanitarian and development programs implemented by the agency, pointing out that the coming period will witness more Turkish support for the health and infrastructure sectors in Yemen, especially in the city of Aden.
