Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced today, Thursday, that it received a report of a maritime incident approximately 178 nautical miles northwest of the port of Hodeidah in the Red Sea. The authority explained in a statement that an unknown projectile was seen falling into the water at a distance from a commercial vessel, confirming that the ship and its crew are safe and that it continued its journey to its next destination unaffected. According to the statement, the ship's captain indicated that he was subjected to "severe electronic interference" in the area, while the competent authorities continue to collect information to verify the details of the incident. The authority called on all ships transiting the Red Sea lanes to exercise caution and immediately report any suspicious activities, in light of the security tensions in the vital shipping lane. This development comes as the Houthis continue to launch attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, mainly targeting ships linked to Israel, which has caused significant disruption to trade traffic through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, one of the most important global shipping routes.
