Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The Yemeni Ministry of Health announced the recording of 20 deaths and more than 7,300 cases of measles and cholera in Taiz Governorate, southwestern Yemen, since the beginning of this year, 2025. Taysir Al-Samei, Director of Information at the Public Health and Population Ministry Office in Taiz, stated in a statement to the German Press Agency (DPA) that the number of cases of several diseases continues to rise in the densely populated governorate amid challenges facing the medical sector. He explained that the number of deaths from measles has risen to ten cases since the beginning of this year, while the number of infections reached 1,609. He pointed out that the number of deaths from acute watery diarrhea and cholera reached ten cases during the same period, while the number of infections rose to 5,695. He pointed out that there are other diseases that are still ongoing in the governorate, including cases of dengue fever, chikungunya fever, and West Nile virus, where the total cases reached 2,508 infections with these diseases without recording any deaths. He also pointed out that these diseases come with the continued suffering of the health sector from a severe shortage of funding from donors, as well as the suffering of most of the population from a scarcity of potable water.
