Yemen: Meeting in Taiz discusses reducing fees for a number of services and controlling violators

Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: A meeting held in Taiz Governorate discussed reducing fees for a number of services provided to citizens in accordance with price changes. At the meeting, which was attended by the Governorate's Undersecretaries for Services Affairs, Engineer Rashad Al-Akhali, Development Affairs, Aref Jamel, Technical Affairs, Engineer Muheeb Al-Hakimi, and a number of executive office directors, the Industry and Trade Office reviewed the procedures related to developing the executive mechanism and ways to implement the decisions and directives related to reducing the prices of consumer goods and fees for services provided to citizens, in line with the exchange rate approved by the Central Bank. The meeting discussed the rapid implementation of directives and taking firm measures in determining the reduced and appropriate pricing for special services provided to citizens, foremost among which are private school fees, commercial electricity, and a number of services... stressing that there should be no leniency or complacency regarding the lives and livelihoods of citizens. The meeting approved the formation of a joint committee from the local authority and the Private Education Department of the Education Office to conduct field visits to private schools and implement a mechanism for allocating school fees, based on the directives issued, and to report the results to the local authority leadership to take the necessary action. The Director-General of the Governorate's Electricity Corporation was also tasked with preparing a comprehensive study of prices in line with the decrease in the price of diesel, and submitting it urgently, as well as the pricing of the Industry and Trade Office for reinforced concrete and setting the cubic meter at 140,000 riyals.
