Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the unrecognized Houthi government, Abdul-Wahid Abu Ras, sent a message to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council, circulated to the member states of the United Nations, the European Union, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the UN envoy to Yemen, regarding the killing of the head and members of the "Government of Change and Construction" as a result of an Israeli bombing last Thursday. The message stated that the raid "targeted the head of the government and a number of its members, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs," and described it as a "cowardly and treacherous crime and a blatant violation of Yemen's sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity, as well as international law, the United Nations Charter, and the Geneva Conventions." It added that targeting the head and members of the government represents "a dangerous precedent in international relations," noting that the incident is part of a series of Israeli attacks that have targeted airports, ports, power stations, factories, and residential neighborhoods in Yemen since July 2024. The Houthi Foreign Ministry affirmed that "these crimes reflect the bankruptcy of the Zionist entity and its failure to achieve any military achievement, and its pursuit of a false victory," considering that "the silence of the international community" helped escalate the attacks. The message called on the United Nations and the international community to "assume their legal and moral responsibilities, put an end to these crimes, force Israel to comply with international law, and end the policy of impunity." Abu Ras reiterated that Sana'a's position "supporting Gaza is firm and consistent with international law, and will continue no matter the sacrifices until the aggression is ended and the siege is lifted." He also stressed that "the Government of Change and Construction will continue to conduct business and provide services." The message concluded by emphasizing that "the Israeli aggression against Yemen will not go unanswered, in accordance with what is guaranteed by Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and all international laws."
