Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The academic year has begun in the governorates under the control of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, with approximately two million seven hundred thousand students heading to schools. The Minister of Education, Tariq Al-Akbari, and the Minister of State, Governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, inaugurated the new academic year 2025/2026 yesterday, Sunday, in the schools of the interim capital, Aden, according to the ministerial calendar. During the inauguration, Minister Al-Akbari and Governor Lamlas toured the Abdullah Hashem Model School for Basic Education and the Abdulbari Qasim Secondary School for Girls in the Khor Maksar district, listening to Dr. Nawal Jawad, Director of the Education Office in Aden, about the progress of the educational process on its first day, and the extent of the commitment of school administrations and teachers to the school calendar. Following the inauguration, Minister Al-Akbari and Governor Lamlas met with school administrations and teachers, listening to their educational needs, difficulties, challenges, and the necessity of providing them. The Minister of Education emphasized the importance of advancing the educational sector in light of the exceptional circumstances the country is going through, pointing to the follow-up and keenness of the Prime Minister, Salem bin Brik, and his continuous directives to start the new academic year on its scheduled date, considering education as the basic pillar for building people and ensuring the future, stressing to school principals the importance of functional discipline and adherence to the school calendar. For his part, the Minister of State, Governor of Aden, expressed his happiness at the return of students to education, renewing the local authority leadership's commitment to the stability of educational conditions in Aden.
