Abyan - Special More than 50 trailers loaded with domestic gas have stopped on the international road passing through Abyan Governorate, in protest against what the drivers described as "financial extortion" by collection points recently established in various areas of the governorate. A number of trailer drivers said that the points imposed on them the payment of 200,000 riyals for each trailer in exchange for allowing it to pass, which they categorically rejected, considering these levies illegal, obstructing transportation operations, and directly affecting the lives of citizens. The drivers confirmed that they would stop continuing to drive until these demands are canceled and those points are removed, warning that the continuation of this situation may lead to a severe crisis in domestic gas in a number of southern governorates, which depend on this main road to transport supplies. The drivers called on the local authorities and the government to intervene urgently to stop these abuses and hold accountable those responsible for disrupting vital trade lines and imposing levies outside the framework of the law.
