Arab Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: Yemen won advanced positions in the 19th session of the Mohammed VI International Prize for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Quran, which was held in the Kingdom of Morocco with the participation of 45 contestants from Arab and Islamic countries. The Yemeni memorizer Ahmed Ali Ahmed Ali Al-Hada, from Taiz Governorate, won third place in the branch of memorizing the Holy Quran with interpretation, while the reciter Omar Abdul Basit Awad Al-Tamimi from Al-Mahra Governorate achieved an advanced position in the recitation branch. The arbitration committees praised the high level shown by the contestants in memorization, interpretation, and quality of performance. The Director of International and Local Competitions at the Ministry of Endowments and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Al-Yafei, explained that this achievement is the result of the efforts made by the memorization sector and the Sheikhdom of Recitation in the Ministry of Endowments and Guidance through preparing, qualifying, and supervising the participants. He affirmed that this success represents an incentive to continue supporting memorizers and reciters and qualifying them to participate in the largest international forums, and to highlight Yemen's firmly established Quranic status. The Mohammed VI International Prize is one of the oldest Quranic competitions that enjoys a prestigious position in the Islamic world, and it is attended annually by a selection of the most prominent reciters and memorizers under the patronage of the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI.
