Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The United Nations announced the death and injury of 170 people and the damage to more than 125,000 people as a result of the rain floods that have been hitting Yemen since last April. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that "heavy rains and floods have affected large parts of Yemen in recent weeks, including the governorates of Aden, Marib, Lahj, Ibb, Al Hudaydah, and Hajjah." It added that more than 125,000 people have been affected by these floods that have been hitting Yemen since mid-April, causing the death and injury of 170 people, and expected the number of victims to rise "as we continue to verify the reports we receive." It continued, "The heavy rains and floods were devastating, and their greatest impact was especially on displaced families, as many of them live in precarious conditions, and many of these families suffer from the loss of shelter and everything they own." The office pointed out that these heavy rains and floods that Yemen has witnessed in recent weeks coincided with a significant deterioration in the humanitarian situation. The UN office expected that more than 18 million people in Yemen will suffer "from severe food insecurity starting next September."
