Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The residents of Al-Jaafariya District in Raymah Governorate have issued an urgent appeal to the official and local authorities, and to the people of Raymah inside and outside the country, demanding a swift intervention to save their region after it was swept by violent and unprecedented floods that caused heavy human and material losses. Engineer Muhammad Ismail al-Abara, a prominent figure and intellectual from Raymah, said that "the paradise of Yemen - Al-Jaafariya District - is experiencing today the biggest natural disaster in its history as a result of the devastating floods that claimed lives, destroyed wealth, swept away agricultural lands and valleys, destroyed tens of thousands of coffee trees, and caused the collapse of dams, development facilities, and homes, the cutting off of main roads, and the destruction of construction projects that cost hundreds of millions." Al-Abara added that Al-Jaafariya - the heart of beauty and fertility, and a tourist destination in Yemen - is appealing to everyone to quickly intervene to save what remains, stressing that the size of the disaster exceeds the limited capabilities of the residents. Al-Abara put forward a practical proposal to confront the repercussions of the disaster, which is to establish a temporary fund dedicated to addressing the effects of the floods and repairing the damage, to be funded by development institutions and funds and the concerned parties, with the participation of the people of Raymah. He explained that the fund's priorities should begin with preparing accurate technical studies to assess the damage, followed by the immediate implementation of urgent repairs that ensure stopping the aggravation of the disaster and preventing its recurrence, calling on the leadership of the local authority in Raymah to adopt the proposal urgently as a necessary step to mend the great fracture that has afflicted this green spot. Journalists and activists confirmed that the residents of Al-Jaafariya District are experiencing a humanitarian disaster in every sense of the word, as the devastating floods swept through their villages, causing roads to be cut off and dams to collapse, in addition to threatening dozens of homes with collapse. They launched an urgent appeal to all capable people of Raymah inside and outside the country to be a support and help to their families in this difficult ordeal. It is worth noting that Al-Jaafariya District is one of the most beautiful districts of Raymah Governorate, with its stunning nature, fresh waterfalls, and abundant springs throughout the year, which has made it described as one of the jewels of natural tourism in Yemen.
