**Arabian Sea - (AFP)** A military source said that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are close to controlling the city of El Fasher in North Darfur State, after continuing to tighten the noose on Port Sudan forces and their allies, besieging them in the headquarters of the Sixth Infantry Division, armored vehicles, artillery, the transport corps, the UNAMID site, and some government locations. He indicated that the RSF has been carrying out a military campaign, the largest of its kind, since last week, during which it succeeded in controlling vital locations inside the city of El Fasher, getting closer to the positions of Port Sudan forces. Observers believe that "the recent movements of the Rapid Support Forces aim to cut off supply lines to Port Sudan forces and weaken their ability to resist inside the city." According to them, this indicates that El Fasher is on the verge of a change in the balance of military power, as controlling the city may enhance the political and military influence of the attacking forces in North Darfur. They pointed out that the RSF, with its logistical and tactical capabilities, has a significant advantage at this stage, and may impose a near-complete siege on Port Sudan forces in a short time, making control of El Fasher a matter of time.
