Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, in cooperation with the Yemeni Red Crescent, has launched a comprehensive emergency response plan to address the devastating effects of the floods that swept through Hajjah Governorate in northwestern Yemen. This humanitarian initiative comes in response to the urgent needs of more than 15,000 displaced people affected in the region, as the plan aims to provide protection and urgent support to the most affected communities. The plan focuses on implementing urgent humanitarian interventions in the "Al-Mithaq" and "Al-Mashtah" sites for the displaced in Abs District, which include activities to mitigate the effects of the floods, distribute emergency shelter supplies, provide urgent cash assistance, and provide essential first aid kits. The plan also includes the implementation of intensive awareness campaigns aimed at enhancing the community's ability to cope with disasters and adapt to difficult conditions. The implementation of the plan began last Friday and is scheduled to continue for seven days, during which it is expected that approximately 15,785 displaced people living in extremely difficult conditions will benefit from its services. These efforts come at a time when the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees revealed that more than 16,000 families have been affected by the recent natural disasters, leading to widespread destruction of homes and temporary shelters, and even painful human losses.
