Yemen approves opening the cuttlefish fishing season in its territorial waters.

Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries Wealth announced the start of the cuttlefish fishing season in the territorial waters of the Republic of Yemen, according to Ministerial Resolution No. (27) of 2025. The decision clarified that the fishing season includes the coasts of the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea, with the exception of the Socotra Archipelago island, provided that the date for opening the season there will be determined later based on the recommendations of the General Authority for Marine Science and Aquatic Biology Research. The Ministry obligated the competent authorities in fisheries to submit the production statistics for the season to the relevant sector in the Ministry, and to tighten control to regulate fishing operations and ensure compliance with the organizing regulations. Minister Salem Al-Soqatri directed the monitoring of markets and fish landing centers, and the prevention of any smuggling or export operations outside the specified controls, in order to preserve fish stocks and ensure the sustainability of marine wealth. Al-Soqatri affirmed that the implementation of the decision will be in coordination with local authorities and security agencies, noting that its details will be announced through various media outlets.
