Yemen: Cabinet issues decision banning the use of foreign currencies as a substitute for the national currency.

Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: Cabinet Resolution No. (13) for the year 2025 AD was issued regarding the prohibition of using foreign currencies as an alternative to the national currency in commercial, service, and financial transactions in the Republic. The resolution stipulated that all transactions in all liberated regions and governorates of the Republic of Yemen, including the sale and purchase of goods and services and financial contracts, must be conducted in the national currency (Yemeni Rial). The resolution prohibited the use of foreign currencies as an alternative to the Yemeni Rial in any commercial or service transactions within the Republic of Yemen that do not require payment in foreign currency, such as tuition fees, medical treatment fees, rents, and travel tickets, etc. The resolution obligated the Ministers of Industry and Trade, Justice, and Interior, and the governors of the liberated governorates, to take supervisory measures and follow up on the implementation of this resolution, apprehend violators from the targeted categories according to the previous paragraphs, refer them to the competent authority in accordance with the law, and inform the Prime Minister of the level of implementation on a regular basis.
