UBS's "Billionaires Ambitions" report, released on Thursday, showed that the amount of wealth transferred to billionaires' heirs in 2025 reached its highest level since data tracking began in 2015. The report explained that 91 people joined the list of billionaires through inheritance during the period up to April 2025, with a total of $298 billion, an increase of more than a third compared to the previous year. Benjamin Cavalli, Executive Director at UBS, said: "These figures reflect the widening wave of wealth transfer that has been accelerating for several years," noting that the bank expects at least $5.9 trillion to be transferred to the next generation of billionaires over the next fifteen years. According to the bank's estimates, the United States will be the biggest driver of this shift, followed by India, France, Germany, and Switzerland. However, the report indicates that the significant mobility among billionaires, especially younger ones, may redraw the map of how these fortunes are distributed globally. The report is based on a survey of ultra-high-net-worth clients and a database covering the wealth of billionaires in 47 markets around the world. It shows that the pursuit of a better quality of life, geopolitical tensions, and tax considerations are key factors in billionaires' decisions to move from one country to another. The report mentions that Switzerland, the UAE, the United States, and Singapore are among the most preferred destinations for billionaires to settle in recent years.
