A senior official at the European company Airbus predicted on Sunday that the company's fleet in the Middle East will reach 3,700 aircraft by 2044, with a compound annual growth rate of passenger traffic in the region of 4.4% over the next two decades. The head of marketing for Africa and the Middle East, Guérin van den Berg, said during a press conference that the size of the aviation services market in the Middle East is expected to double to about $29.9 billion by the end of 2044. These expectations come before the launch of the Dubai Airshow, the largest aviation exhibition in the Middle East, scheduled to be held between November 17 and 21. Gabriel Simillas, head of Airbus in Africa and the Middle East, added that "the Middle East is witnessing a major transformation in the global aviation sector, and the expansion of fleets, especially wide-body aircraft, will make the region a major hub for long-haul flights now and in the future." Forecasts indicate that wide-body aircraft will account for about 42% of total demand in the region by 2044, the highest expected rate globally.
