Arab Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade for the Business Services Sector, Dr. Rashed Hazeb, affirmed the ministry's intention to cancel 508 trademarks from the ministry for not completing the legal procedures, in addition to deleting 1,902 trademarks for not renewing them, and deleting 6,371 commercial agencies if they do not complete the legal procedures or renew the trademarks and commercial agencies within 30 days of the announcement issued by the ministry. Hazeb said in a press conference he held today in the temporary capital, Aden, "These measures are based on the directives of the Prime Minister's Office regarding supporting investment and maintaining the regularity of commercial traffic, as well as keeping pace with international efforts to combat terrorism and money laundering, and addressing shell companies, and within the framework of reforms and economic recovery and activating central revenues, to confront merchants who refuse to renew their trademarks and agencies and who have sufficed with renewing them in areas controlled by the Houthi group." He added, "The ministry is proceeding with canceling and deleting any inactive agency, record, or trademark that has not been activated, renewed, or completed its legal procedures within the framework of the ministry's efforts to regulate the investment environment and allow entrepreneurs and new investors to benefit from inactive agencies and trademarks and reactivate them in a way that contributes to enhancing competitiveness and serves the consumer's interest." He pointed out that deleting non-renewed agencies and trademarks does not mean excluding their owners, but rather opens the door for others to develop and invest in them...explaining that canceling a trademark that has not been used for more than five years provides an opportunity to reinvest it in new projects and products, which would revitalize the economic movement. He also pointed out that these measures include all governorates...stressing that the ministry has granted merchants and owners of non-renewed agencies and trademarks a deadline of 30 days to correct their situations and complete the necessary procedures...warning that the ministry will take all legal measures to permanently delete non-compliant parties after the deadline expires.
