((Arabian Sea)) Agencies: A zoo in Denmark has requested donations of small pets to be used as food for its predators. Aalborg Zoo stated that it is trying to simulate the natural food chain for the animals it houses, "for the sake of animal welfare and professional integrity," stressing that the donated pets will be "killed gently" by trained staff. In a Facebook post, the park, located in northern Denmark, explained: "If you have a healthy animal that you want to donate for various reasons, feel free to give it to us." The park indicated that the animals that can be donated include guinea pigs, rabbits, and chickens. After euthanasia, these animals will be used as food for other animals, according to the park. It added: "In this way, nothing goes to waste... and we ensure natural behavior, nutrition, and welfare for our predators." The park could not be reached for additional details, and the donation list did not mention other animals or pet types. Angry and sarcastic comments However, the announcement on the zoo's Facebook account sparked mixed reactions between anger, sarcasm, and resentment, but the vast majority of reactions were characterized by anger and expressing discontent with the matter. One of the comments on the announcement said: "Behind this outrageous proposal lies a very twisted and insulting mentality, and it has spread a terrible trend of indifference towards animals in Denmark, and this only contributes to reinforcing this sad backwardness. Imagine giving your pet/animal as food, it couldn't be more insulting and demeaning to dignity than that." Another wrote sarcastically: "What if you're tired of having some of your kids here on vacation?" A third wrote: "Can I also donate healthy and annoying neighborhood kids? And is there a maximum age?"
