The Weather Forecast and Early Warning Center of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology announced today, Thursday, that the weather in the coastal areas and areas close to them will be partly cloudy and tend to be warm during the day, while it will become moderate at night, with the possibility of scattered rain on parts of the southern coasts and the Socotra archipelago. The center indicated that the winds will be light to moderate in speed on the eastern and southern coasts, while they will be active in Bab al-Mandab and on parts of the western coasts. Regarding the mountainous highlands, the weather bulletin confirmed that the weather will be clear and cold to very cold, especially in the western highlands, with chances of frost formation in some areas. Cold to very cold weather is also recorded in the southern and southwestern highlands. As for the desert areas and plateaus, clear and stable weather is expected, moderate during the day and cold at night, with moderate winds. The bulletin data shows clear differences in temperatures between the governorates; where the highest temperatures reached 32 degrees Celsius in Socotra, Al-Mukha, Al-Ghaydah, and Lahj. In contrast, Dhamar Governorate recorded the lowest temperature of only two degrees Celsius, followed by Sana'a and Al-Bayda with three degrees, reflecting the severity of the cold that dominates the highlands during the night and early morning. The center called on citizens, especially the elderly and children, to take the necessary precautions against the severe cold, and also alerted farmers, livestock breeders, and beekeepers to protect their crops and properties from the effects of the temperature drop. In the marine bulletin, the center expected the sea to be light in waves on the coasts of Al-Mahra, Hadhramaut, Shabwa, and Socotra, and light to moderate in waves on the coasts of Abyan and Aden, while it will be moderate in waves in Bab al-Mandab and the western coasts. As for the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden, the sea state is expected to range between light and moderate waves, while the Red Sea will be moderate. The center also warned fishermen, seafarers, and ship captains on the coasts of Socotra, the western coasts, the Red Sea, and Bab al-Mandab of sea disturbances and high waves.
