An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Papua Island in eastern Indonesia today. There have been no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the earthquake so far. The United States Geological Survey stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was 135 kilometers northeast of the city of Tual, and at a depth of 10 kilometers below the surface of the earth.
