((Arab Sea)) Translations: Inflammation helps the body heal, but if this activity persists for a long time, it may cause health problems, such as Alzheimer's, depression, asthma, cancer, and heart disease. A report by the "Verywell Health" website stated that inflammation occurs when the immune system sends immune cells to a wound, injury, infection, or irritant to fight germs and begin the healing process. But chronic inflammation occurs when the body sends inflammatory immune cells for weeks, months, or even years, without any disease or infection. The same site presented 10 common reasons that may cause chronic inflammation: Obesity Excess fat tissue, especially around the abdomen, releases inflammatory chemicals such as cytokines. This low-grade inflammation can increase insulin resistance and double the risk of metabolic syndrome, which can lead to high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. Cigarette smoke and environmental pollution Inhaling cigarette smoke, car exhaust, or factory fumes affects the lungs, and continuous and persistent inhalation of these fumes can lead to lung problems such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Aging As the years pass, the immune system weakens, and it becomes difficult to control the inflammation process. Aging may be accompanied by financial or physical changes, isolation, or loneliness, and these factors can increase chronic stress, which causes inflammation. Lack of physical activity Lack of exercise can cause weight gain, imbalanced blood sugar levels, and inflammation. Doctors advise exercising regularly to reduce the risk of inflammation, but they warned that excessive exercise has the opposite effect. Diet Experts have warned that eating processed foods such as sugars, refined carbohydrates, and unhealthy fats increases the risk of chronic inflammation. These foods include: artificial sweeteners, fried foods, processed meats, drinks and fast foods, white bread, pasta, and refined grains. Alcohol Drinking alcohol frequently and in large quantities poses a serious risk to the body, as this drink produces toxins, causes oxidative stress, and damages the intestines and liver, which increases the risk of chronic inflammation. Chronic stress Stress puts the body in a "fight or flight" state, which raises cortisol levels, and prolonged stress can cause inflammation. Sleep problems Lack of sleep, changes in sleep times, or frequent waking can disrupt the body's ability to control the inflammation process. Microbiome imbalance The intestines contain trillions of bacteria known as the microbiome, which help protect the intestinal lining and support the immune system when balanced. But excessive alcohol consumption, a poor diet, or chronic stress disrupts this balance, weakening the intestinal lining and allowing harmful substances to pass into the bloodstream, which stimulates chronic inflammation. Signs of chronic inflammation Abdominal pain or digestive problems, body or joint pain, poor concentration and mood changes, persistent fatigue, headaches, skin rashes, difficulty sleeping, weight gain. Risks of inflammation Chronic inflammation may cause Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease, anxiety and depression, in addition to asthma, autoimmune diseases, some cancers, heart disease, diabetes, and irritable bowel syndrome.
