The Sultanate of Oman announced today, Sunday, the signing of an agreement with the European company "Airbus" to design, manufacture, and launch the first Omani satellite dedicated to communications, in a move that is the first of its kind in the history of the Sultanate. The Oman News Agency stated that the project comes within the Sultanate's efforts to strengthen the infrastructure of the communications sector, support digital sovereignty, in addition to building qualified national cadres in the fields of space and future technologies. The new satellite is expected to represent a qualitative leap in communication services within the Sultanate, and a strategic pillar for developing the digital economy and expanding secure and reliable communication capabilities.
