Arabian Sea - Follow-ups: The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity said on Monday that disruptions at European airports due to problems with automated check-in systems were caused by a third-party ransomware attack. The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity added in a statement: "The type of ransomware has been identified. Law enforcement agencies are involved in an investigation" into the matter, according to "Reuters." The cyberattack targeted Collins Aerospace, a supplier of check-in and boarding systems owned by RTX, disrupting operations on Saturday at London's Heathrow Airport and the Berlin and Brussels airports, where travelers faced long lines and dozens of cancellations and delays. Data and statements from airport officials showed that the disruption had subsided significantly by Sunday morning, although some delays persisted, while regional regulators said they were investigating the source of the cyberattack. This disruption is the latest in a series of increasingly sophisticated cyber and ransomware attacks targeting governments and businesses around the world, affecting sectors from healthcare and defense to retail and automotive. A recent breach of Jaguar Land Rover, a prominent player in the luxury car industry, led to a halt in its production.
