**Arab Sea - Follow-ups:** The American artificial intelligence company OpenAI has revealed that it is developing an AI-powered employment platform to connect companies and employees, a service that would put OpenAI in strong competition with the popular professional networking and employment platform LinkedIn. An OpenAI spokesperson told TechCrunch that the company plans to launch the new platform, called OpenAI Jobs Platform, in the middle of next year. In a post broadcast on Saturday, Fidji Simo, head of applications at OpenAI, said that the company "will use AI to help achieve the perfect match between what companies need and what workers can offer," adding that the service will provide a customized path for small businesses and local governments to take advantage of the best AI tools. OpenAI is seeking to expand into many new markets outside of its core ChatGPT AI chat platform. At a dinner with journalists recently, CEO Sam Altman said that Simo will oversee many applications outside of AI chat. OpenAI is likely to develop an internet browser and a social networking application that generally use AI tools. It is worth noting that the OpenAI employment platform could put the company in direct competition with LinkedIn, which was co-founded by Reid Hoffman, an early investor in OpenAI. LinkedIn is also owned by the software and technology empire Microsoft, one of OpenAI's largest funders. Last year, LinkedIn worked to add several AI tools to its platform to help facilitate companies finding the right employees and job seekers finding the right job. OpenAI also says it will begin offering certifications for people with different levels of "AI proficiency" through the OpenAI Academy, a program the company launched online last year. A company spokesperson said it plans to launch a pilot program for OpenAI certifications later this year.
