UNESCO adds 26 Yemeni sites to the Tentative List of World Heritage.

Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has added 26 Yemeni cultural and natural heritage sites to the Tentative List of World Heritage. According to Yemen's Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Mohammed Jumeh, in a statement, the UN organization added 26 heritage and natural sites, bringing the number from 9 sites to 35 sites, while updating the data of 5 sites previously included on the Tentative List. Jumeh explained that with "the inclusion of the new sites, Yemen has 35 cultural and natural heritage sites on the Tentative List, including 4 sites previously included, 5 sites whose data have been updated, in addition to the 26 newly included sites." The statement mentioned that "the organization published on its official website the names of the cultural and natural sites included on the Tentative List, which are: the cities and landmarks of the ancient Ma'in Kingdom - Al-Jawf, the Al-Amiriya School - Rada'a, the antiquities and water management systems of the Himyarite Kingdom in Zafar, Shibam Kawkaban, and the Jabal Erf Natural Reserve." The list also included "Hayd al-Jazil and Wadi Doan - Hadramout, the city of Al-Qarah - Yafa, the city of Tarim - Hadramout, the historic city of Al-Mukalla - Hadramout, the Seiyun Palace - Hadramout, the sites of the cultural landscape and heritage landmarks in Sana'a, the archaeological sites of the Hadramout Kingdom in Shabwa." The list also included "the archaeological sites of the Qataban Kingdom in Bayhan, the Aden Wetlands Natural Reserve, the historic city of Aden, the city of Habban in Shabwa, the city of Al-Houta (Houtat al-Faqih Ali) in Shabwa, the Balhaf/Burum Natural Reserve, the ancient incense trade routes, the city of Jibla in Ibb, the historical fortifications in Hodeidah." In addition to "the old city of Hodeidah, the city of Shaharah and its bridge, the Sharma-Jethmoon Reserve, the biodiversity sites in Hadramout, the landmarks of the city of Taiz, the city of Mocha, the historic city of Saada, Dar Al-Hajar, the site of the city, the archaeological site of Barakesh in Al-Jawf, the agricultural terraces in Yemen, the historic city of Thula, Jabal Haraz, Jabal Bura'a and the Hauf Reserve in Al-Mahra.
