((Arab Sea)) Agencies: American pop star Justin Timberlake announced to his audience on Thursday that he has Lyme disease. The 44-year-old singer and former member of NSYNC, which recently concluded its world tour, published a statement via Instagram. He wrote about his tour, which some fans criticized, particularly for his lack of energy on stage, "It has been a fun, moving, rewarding, and physically challenging experience, and at times exhausting." Timberlake added, "Among other things, I was having some health problems, and I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, and I'm not saying that to make you feel sorry for me, but to give you a glimpse of what I was going through behind the scenes." He explained that "living with this disease can be constantly exhausting, psychologically and physically. When I received the diagnosis, I was shocked, of course. But at least I could understand why I was suffering from severe nerve pain on stage, or why I felt so tired or sick." Lyme disease is an infectious disease caused by Borrelia bacteria, which are usually transmitted to humans by the bite of a tick carrying these bacteria. The disease rarely leads to death, but those infected often suffer from a rash and flu-like symptoms, including muscle and joint pain, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Timberlake, known for songs such as "Cry Me A River" and "Can't Stop The Feeling," previously faced a legal problem a year ago after being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol near New York City. Timberlake pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor classified by law as "simple," and issued a public apology before a court near New York, which sentenced him to community service. Timberlake, a former member of the boy band NSYNC between 1995 and 2002, and nicknamed the "Prince of Pop," began his career as a singer, songwriter, producer, and actor, and has achieved widespread global fame. Timberlake has won ten Grammy Awards and four Emmy Awards, the most prominent awards in the fields of music and television. The star was also in a relationship with singer Britney Spears between 1999 and 2002, and the American artist revealed in her memoirs last October that she was forced to have an abortion, reluctantly and at Timberlake's request, during their relationship.
