Concluding Statement of the Symposium "Aden in the Memory of History"

**Aden ((Arabian Sea)) Special** Aden Platform for Reading and Creativity organized a symposium on (Aden in the Memory of History) on Thursday morning, July 24, 2025, in partnership with the Aden Center for Historical Studies and the National Library. Professor Dr. Mahmoud Al-Salmi, Director of the Aden Center for Historical Studies, opened the symposium with a speech in which he welcomed all attendees and participants. He emphasized the keenness of the Center, the Aden Platform for Reading and Creativity, and the National Library to pay attention to everything related to Aden, past, present, and future. Then, the work of the first session began, which was moderated by Dr. Muhammad Rajab Jarada, and which included five presentations by: Dr. Afrah Al-Humaqani on the Port of Aden Throughout History Dr. Samir Al-Shumairi on Aden and Social Coexistence Mr. Najmi Abdul Majeed on Cultural and Journalistic Life in Aden Dr. Muhammad bin Hawi Bawazir on Aden's Historical Landmarks Ms. Nadira Abdul Quddus on Women in Aden The second session, moderated by Dr. Masoud Amshoush, included four presentations by: Dr. Jamal Bawazir on Aden, Nature and Environment Mr. Abdullah Abdul Karim on the Adeni Song Dr. Hanaa Abdul Karim on Aden, Developments and Challenges Since Independence Mr. Hussein Zaid on Times and Places in Aden. After all these studies were enriched with valuable discussions and interventions, Dr. Masoud Amshoush read the final statement of the symposium, which included the following recommendations: - The symposium recommends that all concerned parties pay attention to the various historical documents related to Aden and work to document them quickly. -The symposium recommends quickly rehabilitating the National Library and opening it to the public after providing the necessary requirements. -The symposium recommends dedicating a culture of tolerance in Aden and decisions and respecting others, regardless of their origin, gender, race, or religion. -The symposium recommends honoring Professor Abdullah Abdul Karim and printing his songs and writings about the Adeni song. -The symposium recommends that the concerned authorities pay attention to all of Aden's natural, historical, and archaeological landmarks. - The symposium recommends that all concerned parties read all the components of Aden's memory and history and work to avoid all the negatives that occurred in the past and consolidate what is positive in Aden's memory and history.
