Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The Yemeni art scene bid farewell today, Monday, to the artist Mohammed Musha'jal Awadhan Al-Mahri, one of the most prominent figures of popular singing, after his death in a hospital in Al-Ghaydah city in Al-Mahra Governorate, following a sudden health problem that afflicted him last Saturday. The deceased belongs to the Ra'fit tribe in the Dhobut district, and was known as the "Ambassador of Al-Mahri Song," as he succeeded in transferring the local singing heritage to wider spaces, so that his voice reached various parts of the Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula. Musha'jal was distinguished by a special artistic ability to blend authentic popular performance with the spirit of spontaneous expression of the details of Al-Mahri life, which gave him an exceptional presence and popularity that exceeded the borders of his region. The late artist left behind a rich artistic legacy with a collection of works that formed a collective memory for lovers of heritage arts, most notably: Ya Muhajir (O Emigrant), Rahal Min Ahibbuh (He Who I Love Has Departed), Fi Aman Allah (In God's Safety), Dhaby Nadir (Rare Gazelle), Ala Ya Rab Awnak (Oh Lord, Your Help), Ya Mursili Billah Balligh Salami (O Messenger, By God, Convey My Greetings), and Ya Tayer Al-Shaheen (O Falcon), in addition to dozens of other songs that truthfully expressed the Al-Mahri and Yemeni cultural identity. With his departure, Al-Mahri song loses one of its most prominent faces, while his voice and legacy remain a testament to the authenticity of Yemeni art and the richness of its cultural diversity. The editorial board of the "Arabian Sea" newspaper offers its condolences on this great loss, asking God for mercy and forgiveness for him, and that He grant him spacious gardens.
