Arab Sea - Follow-ups: The Israeli i24 network reported on Sunday evening that initial contacts are taking place between Israel and the United States in preparation for President Donald Trump's visit to Israel at the beginning of December. Two Israeli and American sources confirmed the existence of these contacts. If it actually takes place, this would be Trump's first visit to Israel in his second term as President of the United States. Trump skipped Israel on his first Middle East tour in his second term in May, limiting himself to visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the Emirates, which raised questions in Tel Aviv, before his meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington later intensified to discuss a truce deal in Gaza. The past weeks have witnessed American efforts to mediate a ceasefire and the release of prisoners, with mixed signals from the White House regarding the approach to the war in Gaza and Iran, while Washington has kept political and security communication open with the Netanyahu government. Trump's last visit to Israel dates back to May 2017 during his first term, while any current move will be governed by complex balances that include the prisoners' file, humanitarian aid, and the Iran track.
