Arab Sea - Follow-ups: A German government spokesman said on Friday that Berlin has no intention of recognizing a Palestinian state at present because that would undermine any efforts to reach a two-state solution through negotiation with Israel. He added at a press conference, "Reaching a two-state solution through negotiation remains our goal, even if it seems distant at present, and recognition of Palestine will likely come at the end of this process, and such decisions now are unconstructive." Countries, including Australia, Britain, France, and Canada, have recently announced that they will recognize a Palestinian state under certain conditions.
