Arab Sea - Follow-ups: Britain announced today, Thursday, the imposition of sanctions on one individual and four entities under the sanctions regime imposed on Iran, saying they are part of a network that supports Tehran's foreign activities, including in Ukraine and Israel. The sanctions included freezing the assets of Iranian oil tycoon Hossein Shemkhani and four companies operating in the shipping, petrochemicals, and financial sectors. It clarified that the sanctions were imposed on some companies for acting on behalf of or under the direction of Shemkhani, who is accused of assisting Iran's foreign operations. The United States imposed sanctions on Shemkhani last month. Britain said the network facilitated hostile activities by the Iranian government, including efforts to destabilize the United Kingdom and other countries. It is noted that the sanctions freeze any assets in the United Kingdom and prevent British individuals and companies from dealing with the listed entities.
