((Arabian Sea)) Translations: On Wednesday, President Donald Trump said that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff had made "significant progress" in his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and that Trump had updated some of Washington's European allies on the meeting. Trump added in a post on the "Truth Social" platform: "My special envoy, Steve Witkoff, just had a very productive meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin." He continued: "Everyone agrees that this war must end, and we will work to achieve that in the coming days and weeks." For his part, a White House official said that Witkoff's meeting with Putin in Moscow went well, adding that Washington still plans to move forward with secondary sanctions on Friday. The White House official said: "The Russians are keen to continue engaging with the United States. Secondary sanctions are still expected to be implemented on Friday." Witkoff met with Putin for nearly 3 hours in a last-minute mission seeking a breakthrough in the 3-year war. Trump had threatened to impose sanctions on Moscow if no steps were taken to end the war in Ukraine.
