Bahr Al Arab - Britain - Follow-ups: The British government has expressed its pleasure at the entry into force of an agreement reached with Paris, which stipulates the return of illegal immigrants who arrived in the United Kingdom on small boats to France, in exchange for receiving immigrants present in France. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: "Today we are sending a clear message: if you arrive here illegally on a small boat, you are at risk of being deported to France." Starmer discussed this model project with French President Emmanuel Macron during his official visit to the United Kingdom at the beginning of July, but the office of French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau indicated yesterday that the agreement had been signed, but would enter into force today, Wednesday. The agreement, which runs until June 2026 and whose details of implementation have not been disclosed, in particular the number of immigrants concerned, aims to deter people who intend to cross the English Channel on unsafe boats, organized by smuggling networks.
