**((Arabian Gulf)) Follow-ups:** South Korea's Ministry of National Defense said on Monday that the army has begun dismantling loudspeakers used for propaganda broadcasts towards North Korea, which were installed along the border with Pyongyang. The ministry explained that this step comes as part of practical measures to ease tensions between the two Koreas without affecting the army's readiness. The number of fixed loudspeakers scheduled to be dismantled is about 20 units, and the dismantling is expected to be completed within two or three days, according to Yonhap News Agency. Seoul announced in June that it would stop broadcasting anti-North Korea propaganda through loudspeakers along the border between the two countries. After Seoul's announcement, the South Korean military clarified that North Korea appeared to have suspended its anti-South broadcasts. At the time, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korean Armed Forces said that no broadcasts via loudspeakers from North Korea towards South Korea had been detected in any area, and that the army was closely monitoring related North Korean movements. The Ministry of Unification in Seoul considered North Korea's suspension of radio broadcasts via loudspeakers along the border between the two Koreas to be a "valuable opportunity" to restore mutual trust between the two sides. It is worth noting that South Korea had resumed broadcasting via loudspeakers in June 2024 after a hiatus of years, in response to balloons loaded with waste launched by North Korea towards its southern neighbor in a psychological warfare campaign.
